Release notes

PageNarrator Changelog

Release notes for the PageNarrator Chrome extension, including on-device voice, PDF, privacy, and Chrome Web Store launch updates.

Version 1.0.2

Adds a deterministic PDF render window so the viewer keeps the current page, 2 pages behind, and 2 pages ahead rendered while avoiding all-page PDF layout work at startup.

Simplifies PDF highlighting with CSS text-range highlights, a one-word PDF word highlight, no queued next overlay by default, and smaller fallback region padding for dense small-font PDFs.

Version 1.0.1

Chrome Web Store resubmission package with refreshed product screenshots, OCR media linting for rejected install CTA copy, deterministic local screenshot capture, and launch checklist steps for replacing stale dashboard media.

Adds reader keyboard shortcuts (Space, J/L, S, +/-) in the side panel and pop-out player, plus optional global Chrome hotkeys for play/pause, previous, next, and stop.

Version 1.0.0

Initial Chrome Web Store launch candidate with webpage read aloud, selected-text reading, Pro PDF extraction, Pro PDF viewer highlighting, Pro custom highlight styling, 3x playback speed, adjustable section pauses, side panel controls, and the Pro launch lifetime license.

On-device narration

Free and Pro include on-demand Kokoro voices for English, plus cleared Piper voices for German, French, Dutch, and Swedish when selected.

Privacy and licensing

The release keeps reading content local and uses license checks with a generated device identifier; the server stores only a SHA-256 hash for Pro activation across up to 5 personal devices.
